Terms of Service

Last updated 11 October 2026

These Terms govern your use of Your Storytales, provided by StoryTales Studios Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who this is for

Your Storytales is designed for use by a parent or guardian on behalf of their child. You must be 18 or over to create an account. If you are creating content or selecting settings for a child, you are responsible for supervising their use of the app.

2. What Your Storytales provides

Your Storytales generates personalised audio stories using AI-generated narration, sound effects, ambience, and music, based on choices you make during story creation. Story content is generated automatically; while we apply safety and age-appropriateness measures throughout generation, we cannot guarantee every generated story will be free of errors or perfectly suited to every child in every circumstance. If a story doesn’t feel right, you can regenerate it or contact us — see Section 10.

3. Subscriptions and payment — via Apple/Google, not billed by us directly

This is important and different from most websites you may have signed up to: subscriptions and any in-app purchases are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, not directly by StoryTales Studios Ltd.

  • Your subscription is managed through your Apple ID or Google Account settings, not through Your Storytales directly.
  • Refunds are handled according to Apple’s or Google’s own refund policies, not ours — we do not process refunds directly, and cannot override a decision made by Apple’s or Google’s support teams. If you believe you’re owed a refund, request it through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.
  • Cancellation — you can cancel at any time through your device’s subscription settings. Cancelling stops future billing; it does not retroactively refund the current billing period unless Apple/Google’s own policy applies.
  • Free trials, where offered, convert automatically to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends — this is controlled by Apple’s/Google’s platform behaviour, not something we can adjust on our end.
  • Pricing for each tier is shown in the app before you subscribe. Pay-as-you-go story packs, where purchased, do not expire unless stated otherwise at time of purchase.
  • Story credits — each plan includes a set number of stories per billing period. Unused stories from a subscription do not carry over to the next period, and are no longer available once a subscription ends. Stories you have already made stay in your library. If a story fails to generate, the credit is returned to you.
  • A free story given with a new account is a one-off welcome gift, has no cash value, and may be changed or withdrawn for new accounts at any time.

4. Your content and what you can do with it

When you create a story, you provide input — a world description, character names, chosen themes. You retain rights to what you personally wrote or input. The generated story itself (narration, audio, and the specific combination of elements produced) is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use — listening, sharing within your family, and saving it for your own use. You may not resell, redistribute for profit, or claim generated stories as independently authored creative work for commercial purposes.

If you choose to make a story public, you grant other families a licence to view and listen to it within the app, and you confirm the input you provided is your own and doesn’t infringe anyone else’s rights. We may remove any public story at our discretion, and any family can report a public story from within the app or by emailing support@your-storytales.com. Keeping a story private (the default) shares it with no other family.

You can also share a single story by link. Anyone who has that link can open and listen to the story, in the app or on our website, without an account, so only send it to people you trust with it. You can switch link sharing off for a story at any time, and the link stops working.

So that we can provide the service, you give us permission to store, process and play back what you type and the stories made from it: to generate the story, keep it in your library, and show it to the people you choose to share it with. This permission ends when you delete the story or your account, other than for copies we are required by law to keep.

5. Our access to stories

Authorised members of the Your Storytales team can view any story made with the service, including private ones, together with the choices and text used to make it. We do this only to:

  • keep the service safe for children, including checking reports and investigating misuse;
  • check and improve the quality of the stories we generate;
  • fix problems and answer your support requests;
  • meet our legal obligations.

We do not publish, sell or share your private stories outside the team, and we do not use them in marketing without asking you first. Access is limited to the people who need it for the purposes above.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to generate content that is sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate for the children’s context this app is built for — our safety systems are designed to prevent this, but you agree not to deliberately try to circumvent them
  • Use the app to harass, impersonate, or harm any real person
  • Enter someone else’s copyrighted text, characters or brand names as if they were your own, or put personal details about a real child (a full name, address, school or similar) into a story
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract our underlying prompts, models, or generation systems
  • Use automated tools to create excessive load on our generation systems outside of normal personal use

What you type when creating a story is checked automatically before anything is generated, and a story may be refused if it doesn’t pass. Reports about public stories are reviewed by our team. We may remove a story, withdraw it from public view, or suspend or terminate an account that violates this section.

7. Children’s data

We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Account holders must be adults. Any information about a child (a first name, an optional age, and the characters you describe) is provided by the parent/guardian, not the child, and is used solely to make and personalise your stories. We never ask for a child’s photograph, surname, address or date of birth, and you should not enter them. See our Privacy Policy for full detail on what’s collected and why.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. Deleting it removes your account, your family members and every story you made, including the audio and images, and cannot be undone. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: that is done through your Apple ID or Google Play settings, and you should cancel there first. If we close an account for breaking these Terms, the same deletion applies.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Your Storytales available and working as described, but as an early-stage product, features, pricing, and available worlds/content may change as we improve the product. We’ll aim to give reasonable notice of any change that affects your subscription materially.

10. Contact and complaints

Questions, concerns, or complaints about the service itself: support@your-storytales.com.

For billing issues specifically, please also check your Apple ID or Google Play purchase history first, since we cannot directly view or alter charges made through those platforms.

11. Limitation of liability

Your Storytales is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law (including for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be flagged clearly in the app, not just quietly updated on this page.
